Waxing After Care

After your waxing service, you can expect the waxed area to be red and bumpy; some may experience blood spots due to thicker, courser hair. Also, the site may feel tender. Don't worry! This is normal.
It should subside within less than 24 hours.

For the first 24 hours after, avoid the following:

  • Touching or scratching the waxed area.

  • Exfoliating the waxed area.

  • Saunas, steam rooms, tanning beds, gyms, swimming, any sunlight or UV exposure (can cause hyperpigmentation), anything that will make you sweat - Avoid!
Sweat can infect open follicles, and heat can irritate the waxed area.

  • We apply products to freshly waxed skin, such as deodorant, makeup, lotions, perfume, self-tanner, etc.

  • Tight-fitting clothing may cause friction to the waxed area. Loose-fit clothing is recommended.

In the first couple of days after your wax, apply an antiseptic ointment such as polysporin or bacitracin to prevent bacteria from entering the pores. It can be purchased at many local stores.

Exfoliate your skin three days after your waxing appointment, preferably with a coarse scrub or gentle exfoliant. I recommend Raspberry Refining Scrub by Skin Script or Deck Scrub; both of these products you can purchase directly from me. Use every other day to help remove the build-up of dead skin cells that can clog the pores, trapping hairs beneath the skin that can cause ingrowns.

Great washes:
They include AHA. This loosens any dead skin cells clinging to the skin's surface. In addition, cleansers containing salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and tea tree help combat breakouts and ingrown hairs. These can be used 1-3 times a week; daily use can cause your skin to dry out. I recommend using Hempz, Black African Soap, or Mario Badescu AHA Botanical soap. I also have cleansers for sale in my salon if you need help!

If you are prone to breakouts, you may also be more inclined to ingrown hairs. If so, Clarifying Toner pads by Skin Script is excellent for 2-3 times weekly. Salicylic and glycol acid relieve breakouts, while tea tree improves skin clarity. In addition, it reduces congestion, lessons oil production, provides antibacterial properties, soothes cystic breakouts, and enhances cell turnover. You can purchase these products through me as well.

Lastly, moisturize your skin every day! The more hydrated your skin is, the better your waxes will be.
Aloe vera gel will help soothe, hydrate, and calm the skin. Grape seed oil is also great for hydrating. Deck Polish is great and specifically formulated for the Brazilian area. You can purchase this from me as well! Following proper aftercare will ensure your waxes are as pain-free as possible; remember to rebook for your next appointment if you have not already done so; waiting too long between waxes will be more painful! The sooner you rebook, the more likely it will be that you will get the time and day that works best for you! I am a private boutique waxing service that is first come, first served through my online service. Waxing is recommended every 4-6 weeks. Please call or text me with any questions, comments, or concerns; I am here for you!
